Privacy & Terms

How we collect, use and protect your information — and the terms that apply when you use eVisitNB.

Last updated: June 2026

Introduction

eVisitNB, powered by ThinkNew Health, provides virtual healthcare to residents of New Brunswick. This page summarizes how we handle your information (Privacy Policy) and the terms that apply when you use our website and service (Terms of Use). Your privacy and the security of your health information are central to how we operate.

Information we collect

To provide care, we collect: identifying details (name, date of birth, contact information); your New Brunswick Medicare number and a photo ID for identity verification; the health information you share for your consultation, including any photos or files you upload; and limited technical information (such as device and connection data) needed to deliver a secure visit.

How we use your information

We use your information only to deliver and document your care — conducting your virtual visit, issuing prescriptions and requisitions, maintaining your medical record, verifying your identity, processing payment for your visit, and communicating with you about your care. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with your employer.

Sharing and disclosure

We share information only as needed to provide your care or as permitted or required by law — for example, with the nurse practitioner treating you, the pharmacy you choose, or a laboratory or specialist when you are referred. Service providers who help operate the platform are bound by confidentiality and may only use information to provide their services to us.

Legal basis and your rights

We handle personal health information in accordance with applicable Canadian and New Brunswick privacy legislation. You have the right to access your own records, to request corrections, and to ask questions about how your information is handled. Contact us to exercise these rights.

Security

Visits and data transfers use encrypted connections. Access to records is restricted to authorized clinicians and staff, and information is stored securely. While no system can guarantee absolute security, we use reasonable safeguards designed to protect your information.

Data retention

Medical records are retained for the period required by professional and legal obligations in New Brunswick. Information no longer required is securely destroyed.

Cookies and analytics

The website may use privacy-conscious analytics and necessary cookies to operate and improve the site. We do not use this information to identify you personally on the marketing site.

Terms of use

This website provides general information and is not medical advice. Using the website does not create a clinician–patient relationship; that begins only within a consultation. eVisitNB is not for emergencies — call 911 or go to the Emergency Department for urgent or life-threatening concerns. You agree to provide accurate information and to use the service lawfully. Content, branding, and design are the property of eVisitNB / ThinkNew Health and may not be copied without permission.

Changes and contact

We may update these terms; material changes will be posted here. Questions about privacy or these terms can be sent to privacy@evisitnb.ca or through our Contact page.
